Traffic Unit

The Rhea County Sheriff's Department's Traffic Safety Unit consists of 2 deputies and was created by Sheriff Mike Neal to address the problems of traffic violations within Rhea County Communities.  Sheriff Neal implemented the program where the primary focus of the unit is to educate the community, not just write tickets.  You will of course see the officers stopping vehicles for traffic violations, but you can and will see the traffic safety unit officers teaching classes to community groups and schools as well as DUI prevention and traffic safety check points.  This unit is primarily funded thru a grant from the State of Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office.
