Det. Lt. Mike Owenby

Department Firearms Instructor

Lt. Owenby began his law enforcement career with the Rhea County Sheriff's Department as a full time police officer in 1988.  Lt. Owenby moved up throught the rnaks from Dispatcher to Detective in his now twenty four year career.  Lt. Owenby attended the required firearms instructor course held at the T.L.E.T.A. in Nashville to become the Departments firearm instructor in 1993.  Lt. Owenby has maintained that status up to this year of 2012.  Lt. Owenby also holds the position of General Department Instructor, being in charge of all training within the Department.  
 
Lt. Owenby has attended many training schools over the past twenty four years including classes involving firearms handling and usage.
